In continuation of my letter of yesterday' I

informed you in that letter that through an oversight I had not

included in the Rating Ordinance the amendments to s. 29 which the

Treasurer had sent me in his reply to the circular addressed to the

Departments. He has now sent me another, and it is an entirely

different one, so that in any circumstances the page would have

been wrong and would have had to be reprinted. You will see from

this what difficulties I have had to contend with.

I shall be glad to have an answer as soon as it

is convenient to my last letter containing a statement of what I am

prepared to do to correct the slips which have occurred. Vol. III

and the Index Volume will be ready to present to Council next

Thursday, and also the two other volumes with the new pages insert-

-ed, if I have your answer in time.

I have the honour to remind you that I have had

no answer to my letter with regard to the payment due under the

original agreement, and I must request that the cheque be handed to

me by the Treasurer next Thursday. I have also the honour to

request that the question of further remuneration be considered at

as early a date as possible, as I have to make arrangements for

leaving the Colony. I desire to give fuller information than is

contained in the papers to the Council or Committee when the

question is considered.
